How I Raised My Seed

  • Fabrik 12-16 Vestry Street New York, NY, 10013 United States (map)

How I Raised My Seed is a gathering centered around open discussion regarding best practices for raising a Seed round. Every other month, we invite two or three founders who have successfully raised a round in the past few months and foster an open dialogue around what worked and what didn't.

This is an in-person event in New York City that will not be streamed, so we look forward to seeing you there.

Panelists:

Aasiyah Abdulsalam, The Renatural

Born in London and raised in rural Ireland, Aasiyah Abdulsalam learned early how to transform necessity into creativity, teaching herself to care for and style her hair in places where expertise was scarce. Diagnosed with scalp psoriasis at 12, she experienced hair loss that led her into the world of wigs — revealing both their potential for beauty and their many shortcomings. She dedicated her dissertation to the wig industry and spent six months in a Korean wig factory, where she saw firsthand how something so intimate was often produced without artistry or empathy. Today, as the Founder of The Renatural, Abdulsalam — a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree and holder of multiple beauty innovation patents — channels years of research, lived experience, and uncompromising standards into reimagining wigs as luxury objects designed with precision, crafted from the finest materials, and created with an obsessive commitment to the customer experience.

Alan Wei, Humanitru

Alan is an entrepreneur and product development specialist. He has an uncanny ability to connect the dots between insights and software needs—then builds products in a way that empowers the user and makes their life easier. His mission is to help the helpers. He is an original founder of Team Humanitru and as might be expected, holds a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Entrepreneurship from the University of Virginia.

Edmund Cuthbert, Superposition

Edmund is the founder and CEO of Superposition, the AI headhunter for startups. A former recruiter turned PM turned founder, he hired engineer #1 at Brex and is obsessed with helping founders build world class teams. And has seen how much humans suck at it.
